hello

nǐ - hǎo

Hello. Glad to meet you.

Nǐ hǎo. Jiàndào hěn gāoxìng.

.. Usage Lesson:

.. Technically, Mandarin does not contain the word, "hello". Chinese use the
.. word-phrase,
"nǐ hǎo" --- ( 你 好 ) to mean "hello / how are you", but trans-
.. lated, this literally means,
"You good?" (a question statement), nonetheless,
... "nǐ hǎo" --- ( 你 好 ) is never written with a question mark, and an answer
.. to whether you are
"good or not good" is not expected. Rather, most
.. Chinese simply respond with another
"Nǐ hǎo.". Nonetheless, with this said,
.. it is a greeting full of hope! They greet you with the hope that you are well!
